First introduced in 1996 the S281 is a lot more than a stock Mustang GT, with the addition of
Saleen-designed body and performance suspension and engine enhancements.
This Laser Red S281 Hardtop is an original-owner car with very low miles and in as-new condition.
Mustang GTs hardtops as well as convertibles, arrive at the Saleen Performance plant, in Irvine,
California, brand new straight from Detroit.The Saleen team of precision craftsmen partially dismantle, remove and replace many parts.
The S281 fleet is equipped with tuned Racecraft suspensions and 3.27- or 3.55:1 factory gears,
Saleen designed air management, Borla exhaust system, 18-inch Chrome or Silver wheels,
Sport bar (convertible only), Mach 460 Sound System, 150 mph speedometer with white-faced guages.
All are equipped with LOJACK and Audiovox theft recovery systems.
Other enhancements were made to the SOHC 4.6 liter engine to bring the horsepower rating to 285.
S-Two-eighty-one Saleens can be had with either a 5-speed or 4-speed AODE transmission.
Body colors include Crystal White, Black, Silver, Performance Red, Sunburst Gold,
Atlantic Blue, two shades of Green, and like this one, Laser Red.
